Leadership Milam County 2010-2011 Class Now Accepting Applications
The effectiveness of personal involvement in the future development of Milam County can be enhanced through increased knowledge of the community's history, citizenry and social, economic and political makeup. It is the intent of the Leadership Milam County program to provide a foundation of such knowledge, that potential leaders will use to aid their involvement in community affairs.
Established under the Cameron and Rockdale Chambers of Commerce and monitored by the Board of Directors of the Chambers of Commerce, Leadership Milam County is an annual program, which focuses on significant community information and issues. Leadership Milam County is funded by the participants of the course and contributions solicited from the business and civic community.
Each year's participants are selected to represent a cross-section of our community's existing and future leaders.

PURPOSE
Leadership Milam County is a program designed to seek out the most promising emerging leaders from all segments of the Milam County community and prepare them to participate in community-oriented decision-making positions; to maintain and strengthen communication; to provide continuing education; to foster increased understanding of our community's challenges; opportunities and issues; and to strongly encourage and foster community involvement and the exercise of civic responsibility by members of Leadership Milam County.
Leadership Milam County shall be non-partisan and shall take no part in or lend its influence to issues or the election or appointment of any candidates for federal, state, county or city office. Nothing herein shall be construed as prohibiting any member from exercising his or her free will to work for the candidate of his or her choice, but this decision shall be left to each individual member.
OBJECTIVES
Leadership Milam county is an educational program with the following objectives:
1. To inform the participants about Milam County's history, government, economy, social issues, needs and opportunities and the existing process for dealing with them.
2. To introduce the participants to, and establish dialogue with, each other and current leaders of Milam County.
3. To encourage the participants to actively participate in future activities, which contribute to the growth and betterment of Milam County.
